The Wellington Garden Club invites the public to attend its next monthly meeting Monday, April 7, to hear Charmaine Peters, the farm director at Arden Farm in Loxahatchee, speak on common plant diseases in the garden and explore safe, effective methods for controlling and eliminating harmful pathogens.
Peters is an expert in sustainable agriculture and garden management. As the farm director at Arden, a nationally recognized “Agrihood” community focused on healthy and farm-to-table living, Peters oversees community food education programs and the production of organic fruits and vegetables. Before moving to Florida, she managed a 60-acre family farm in Pennsylvania for 16 years.
Her agricultural expertise has been featured in publications such as U.S. News & World Report and Martha Stewart Living. She is a contributing writer for Around Wellington, where she shares monthly gardening tips.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for gardeners in our community to gain expert advice on one of the most common challenges in home gardening,” says Carol Ralph, a member of the Wellington Garden Club. “We’re thrilled to welcome Charmaine and look forward to an engaging and educational presentation.”
The meeting will be at the Wellington Community Center, 12150 W. Forest Hill Blvd. Coffee and a plant raffle will be offered at 9:30 a.m.; Peters will speak at 10. To reserve a seat, contact Ralph at caroltaylorralph@gmail.com.
