Studio 411 Acrylic Open Studio Time offers free acrylic paints, canvases and brushes to artists 18 and older. Registration is required and opens one week before the event, which takes place Aug. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Studio 411 on the second floor.
South Florida Tech for Seniors offers appointment-based tech support. Student volunteers help with questions regarding smartphones, laptops, tablets, computers and other electronics. We just have happy accidents.” Happy Little Paintings is an acrylic painting course based on the teachings of Ross, known for the joy he brought to art and to others. Write to Heal is a monthly workshop with healer, sustainability advocate and writer Flose LaPierre that teaches meditation and breathing techniques, guided writing prompts, group sharing, and aftercare resources. Mandel Music Fest is a free day full of jams Aug. 14. The Yevette Norwood-Tiger Quartet brings jazz to the stage of the auditorium at 1:30 p.m., and pianist Catherine Lan and violinist Huifang Chen perform “From Asia to America” at 3:45. No registration is required.
