The Art of Kokedama
Date: Dec. 7
Time: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Cost: $65, advance registration required
Discover kokedama, or “moss ball,” the Japanese art of growing plants in moss-covered spheres of soil. This technique allows you to create stunning, self-contained terrariums that add a touch of nature to any space. This centuries-old practice is rooted in the principles of wabi-sabi, which embraces natural simplicity, imperfection and the beauty of impermanence.
In this workshop, you’ll learn the secrets of kokedama and have the opportunity to experiment with different plants, such as orchids and succulents, to personalize your creations.
Beyond its decorative appeal, kokedama embodies a meditative and therapeutic process, reflecting the Japanese appreciation for balance and harmony. Whether used as a centerpiece, a hanging display or a thoughtful gift, kokedama captures the timeless beauty of nature in its simplest form.
