The Cultural Council for Palm Beach County is marking a milestone with the 10th anniversary of its Biennial exhibition. The juried show Biennial 2025 opens to the public Friday, April 11, and runs through June 20 at the council’s headquarters in downtown Lake Worth Beach.

The exhibition features 17 visual artists from Palm Beach County in a dynamic collection that spans a variety of media and styles. All artwork is for sale.

“The Biennial is a celebration of our region’s artistic excellence,” says Jessica Ransom, the council’s director of artist services. “This year’s exhibition spotlights an inspiring mix of emerging and established artists, many of whom are exhibiting with the council for the first time.”

The Cultural Council received 565 submissions from 152 artists. The final selection was curated by Tim Hawkinson, a noted gallerist and curator based in Los Angeles.

“I didn’t enter the jury process with specific criteria, but I was pleasantly surprised by a surrealist thread running through many of the works,” Hawkinson says. “This creates a compelling narrative and cohesion throughout the exhibition. I’m excited for the public to experience it.”

The artists in Biennial 2025 are Asandra, George Bayer, Jerilyn Brown, Maximo Caminero, Jacques de Beaufort, Fiona Drummond, Rod Faulds, Yvonne Fok-Gundersen, Mark Forman, Paul Gervais, Irina Grimaldi, Nestor Guzman, Todd Lim, Hodaya Louis, Debra Robert, Nadine Saitlin and Amauri Torezan.

To celebrate the opening, the council will host a free public reception Thursday, April 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., including music by Cris and Alex. Space is limited, and advance registration is required. Email rsvp@palmbeachculture.com, or call 561-472-3341.

The best of show, second place and third place will be announced during the opening festivities. Visitors will have the chance to vote for the People’s Choice Award, which will be announced during the final week of the exhibition.

Hawkinson will host a special program, “Navigating the Art Market,” on Saturday, April 12, at 2 p.m. The talk is designed to help artists understand how to build relationships with galleries and collectors, navigate contracts, and succeed in the contemporary art world.

The Cultural Council’s Biennial 2025 is sponsored by the Merrill G. & Emita Hastings Foundation, Ellen Liman, Florida Weekly, Palm Beach Media Group, WLRN, ArtiGras Fine Arts Festival and PureHoney Magazine.

The exhibition is free and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. at 601 Lake Ave., Lake Worth Beach. For full details, visit palmbeachculture.com/biennial.
